Swansea were last night believed to be turning their attention to former Denmark striker Michael Laudrup in their quest for a new manager.
But Gus Poyet remains in their thoughts.
Swansea have been turned down by their former assistant boss Graeme Jones, now at Wigan, who at one stage looked certain to get the job.
Albion are relaxed about reports from West Glamorgan suggesting Swans are keen on their manager.
Meanwhile Poyet has backed the Football League’s return to seven substitutes next season, saying: “For me the key benefit is when it comes to injuries and suspensions.
“With seven subs it’s less likely players will be sat in the stand one match and expected to start the next game.”
