Will Hoskins has refused to rule out reviving his career with Albion.

The injury-plagued striker is open-minded about his future after successful hernia surgery.

Hoskins has only started three games for the Seagulls since a £500,000 move from Bristol Rovers last summer.

He joined Sheffield United on loan in January but his switch to the League One promotion-chasers was cut short by the hernia problem, which was repaired at the beginning of May.

Hoskins told The Argus: “It went really well. I am just looking forward to getting back to pre-season after the year I’ve had.

“I’ve been speaking to the physios, getting prepared and ready for next year. I have got another year at Brighton. You never know what happens in football but I’m just preparing to be fit for pre-season.

“I was already at Brighton this time last year. When somebody makes an approach for you so soon you feel wanted and I didn’t really want to listen to anyone else.

“I love the way the gaffer plays his football. I like that philosophy, so I don’t want to rubbish myself away from a great club with great management, but will the gaffer be here? You don’t know, that’s how mad football is.

“My aim is just pre-season and to go from there.”

Hoskins, 26, revealed to The Argus earlier this month that persistent injuries had made him depressed and he moved to Sheffield to be closer to his family.

United’s interest in re-signing him could depend on the outcome of their League One play-off final against Huddersfield at Wembley today.

Hoskins added: “I got to know the lads well at Sheffield United and all the management. I’ll be cheering them on and wanting them to get that promotion but to be honest I haven’t really been thinking about it that much.

“I am just enjoying doing my rehab and starting to feel back to normal.

“It is not really at the forefront of my mind. What will be will be, I am just looking to pre-season. Things will sort themselves out. I’m not sweating about it, I know when I get fit I am a good player.”
