Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cotterill has admitted he could lose his assistant to Crawley.
But Cotterill still hopes Sean O'Driscoll stays at the City Ground.
O'Driscoll is the clear bookies' favourite to take over at the Broadfield Stadium.
Cotterill said: "There is strong interest from Crawley in Sean, he is just taking some time to think about things.
"I would like to be able to tell Sean about the direction we are going to take things here in the future.
"I am not able to do that at the moment. We do not know what we will have to work with at this time.
"But I think he has enjoyed his time at Forest and I would love to see him stay.
"Hopefully, he will be a part of things again next season."
Cotterill expects a decision from O'Driscoll "in the next few days".
