ALBION’S Gus Poyet has been named top boss outside the Premier League.
Poyet landed the Outstanding Managerial Achievement prize at the Football League Awards in London last night.
The Uruguayan won the accolade for steering the Seagulls to the League One title last season.
Poyet finished top of the poll, voted for by users of the Football Manager website.
He saw off competition from recently sacked Huddersfield chief Lee Clark and Crystal Palace’s Dougie Freedman.
Clark was shortlisted for guiding Huddersfield to a record 43-match unbeaten league run, Freedman for Palace’s 2-1 victory after-extra-time against Manchester United at Old Trafford in the quarter-finals of the Carling Cup.
Albion centre half Lewis Dunk and Blackpool winger Matt Phillips lost out in the Young Player of the Year section to Crystal Palace prospect Wilfried Zaha.
