Albion boss Gus Poyet has reiterated his desire to bring Gonzalo Jara Reyes back to The Amex.
But he admits it is becoming less likely the Chilean international will return south.
Jara Reyes has played four times for West Brom since recalled early from his loan spell with Albion in December to help with an injury crisis.
The 26-year-old defender had previously fallen out of favour at The Hawthorns under Roy Hodgson but was handed his first Premier League start of the season in last Saturday's 2-1 home defeat by Norwich.
Jara Reyes was back in Brighton yesterday, where he was being sentenced for driving offences (see page five).
Poyet, speaking before the court case, told The Argus: “He has been playing and at the moment it’s very difficult.
“We still love him and would love to have him but it is getting more and more difficult.”
Jara Reyes impressed at right-back during his four appearances for Albion.
Inigo Calderon is back in that role after knee surgery and Poyet’s defensive options have been increased for today’s trip to Peterborough by the recoveries from hamstring injuries of Adam El-Abd and Marcos Painter and the return from suspension of captain Gordon Greer.
The Albion squad only arrived back from their rearranged FA Cup tie at Wrexham in the early hours of Thursday morning, which has affected Poyet's preparations for the visit to Posh.
“We need to adapt, me as the manager and the players,” he said. “We will try to give them the information they need to know about Peterborough. They are a team we know well anyway.
“We know we need to be very good defensively, because they are very dangerous attacking. We need to be organised, not to open, and at the same time attack their weaknesses.
“It's a game we know how to play but at the same time it's going to be tough, because they are a difficult team to beat at home and we will need to be at our best.”
