Albion will add a Brazilian defender to their development squad once a passport issue is resolved.
Raphael Rossi Branco has been on trial with the Seagulls and featured as a second half substitute in last Friday's friendly against Whitehawk.
The lanky 20-year-old centre half is from Cruzeiro Esporte Clube in Brazil.
Manager Gus Poyet told The Argus: "Raphael is a very promising player who was with us for a while last year.
"He's fast and quite aggressive, sometimes a little bit too much.
"He would like to learn the game with us. He is waiting for an Italian passport that he is going to get any time and then he is one who could be very interesting for the future."
