Crawley boss Steve Evans praised his side as they went down 2-1 in a friendly against top flight side Olhanense in Portugal.
Ben Smith put Reds ahead from the rebound after John Akinde’s header hit the bar.
Striker Wilson Eduardo, recently signed on loan from Sporting Lisbon, brought Olhanense level before midfielder Nuno Piloto got the winner.
Matt Tubbs, Tyrone Barnett and Scott Neilson went close to an equaliser for Reds, who are in the Algarve on a training camp.
Evans said: “Apart from a bit of rusty finishing it was an excellent performance.”
