Lancashire racked up an impressive 277 for four to take the upper hand in their Pro40 Division One clash with Sussex at Hove.
Captain Mark Chilton top-scored with an unbeaten 76, while there were also brisk half-centuries for Stuart Law (59 off 43 balls), Steve Croft (56 off 35) and Mal Loye (51 off 50).
James Kirtley was the pick of the Sussex attack with two wickets, dismissing Law and Nathan Astle (18).
Darren Gough and Andy Bichel picked up three wickets apiece as Middlesex were bowled out for just 144 at Garon's Park by Essex.
Bichel finished with three for 19, while Gough finished with three for 16.
Styris put on 81 with Nick Compton (49) after his side had been reduced to 29 for five, but Johann Louw, with 19 from 18 balls, was the only other man to reach double figures.
Usman Afzaal anchored Northamptonshire's innings as they made 213 for four against Durham at the County Ground.
The former England batsman ade 108 not out.
