Andrew Whing is expected to complete a loan move from Albion to Leyton Orient today.
But boss Gus Poyet insists he has not forced the ultra-professional right-back into the probable switch to the O's or another, as yet unidentified, club.
Whing has been out of the first team picture for months and was interesting Charlton in pre-season.
Poyet said: “As people know, I don’t force players out, especially good pros like Whingy.
“He has been a pleasure to work with and has trained really well. But he has a couple of options open to him. I don’t want to say where.”
Orient are interested in the former Coventry defender.
A move there would mean linking up with Russell Slade, the manager who re-signed him on a two-year deal when he ran out of contract with the Seagulls in the summer of 2009 after being named player-of-the-season.
Poyet is playing down the significance of Saturday's trip for his table-toppers to third-placed Peterborough.
He said: “It’s one more game. Not our biggest test yet, not their biggest test yet, none of that. Just a great game to be involved in.”
