Mark McGhee today admitted his trial striker from Le Havre might not fit the bill.
The Albion boss was reasonably impressed by what he saw from 24-year-old Stephane Biakolo in the first half of Saturday's 4-0 win at Worthing.
Biakolo, who has been with Le Havre since January 2005, headed back across the Channel, along with Albion's other French-based trialists, after the game.
McGhee is pondering whether to invite the former Inter Milan youth teamer back for further matches.
The Seagulls boss said: "I thought he did all right. I think he showed some good things.
"I'm not convinced he is necessarily exactly the striker we are looking for.
"We have Alex (Revell), we have Colin (Kazim-Richards) and Jake (Robinson) and even young (Joe) Gatting.
"There is a main striker we are looking for, for one of those to play with.
"I'm not sure that is Stephane but I thought he did okay.
"We have got to decide which of the French lads to bring back later in the week or to join up with us when we are over in France.
"Bob Booker and I, along with Dean White and Dean Wilkins, have got to sit round and come to a decision."
Biakolo has been troubled by a cruciate ligament injury in his time at Le Havre and has played only 13 league games for them, including just one seven-minute substitute appearance last season.
He was previously loaned out by Inter to Charleroi, played 12 top-flight games in Belgium before moving to Niort in the French second division, where he scored 17 goals in 70 games.
His main contribution on Saturday was to win the penalty from which Dean Hammond gave the Seagulls a sixth-minute lead.
McGhee expects to look at more trialists this week.
Albion have a behind-closed-doors game with Oxford tomorrow before continuing their pre-season programme at Aldershot on Friday and Bognor on Saturday.
