Liam Dickinson expects Albion manager Gus Poyet to bring in new players during the January transfer window.

The striker accepts the fourth- bottom Seagulls have not been good enough in the first half of the season, as they head for another relegation battle at Wycombe Wanderers today.

Dickinson is suspended for the key clash at Adams Park after marring a man-of-the-match performance with a late booking in Saturday’s 0-0 draw against fellow strugglers Leyton Orient at Withdean.

Albion have taken only seven points out of 24 since Poyet replaced Russell Slade in November and eight out of 36 at home all season.

Dickinson believes the players have been given a fair crack of the whip by the South American and predicts he will act once the window opens on Friday.

He admitted: “He said he would give everyone a chance and I think he has done that. You cannot ask for any more.

“He has been extremely fair. He has given players who were outcasts a chance and if we are not doing our jobs then I think the players expect him to bring other players in.

“Not good enough at all is how I would assess it. We need a lot more from everyone. We shouldn’t be looking at the bottom of the table, we should be pushing up there towards the top five or six teams. That is what we set out to do at the start of the season.

“I feel for the fans who come week in, week out. It’s not the best stadium to be at but they still turn up to support us and we need to do a lot more for them.”

Albion are also without skipper Andrew Crofts today after he was sent off for two bookable offences against Orient. Poyet said: “We will definitely miss him. He is one of the players you are looking to, because he has got the power and strength to play twice in three days.

“Our last ball was poor, either the cross or pass. It’s not good enough but we’ll take the point and the clean sheet and try to win the next game.

“We lost two points on Saturday, so we have to make sure we get all three today. We have to be 100% in every single department.”

Albion will face a Wycombe forward line missing on-loan Bristol City hitman John Akinde, who is serving a three-game ban.
