Albion's match at Swindon tomorrow could be under threat from the forecast of a severe frost tonight.
Snow is not an issue at the moment in Wiltshire and the most vulnerable part of the County Ground pitch - in the shadow of the Don Rogers stand - has been covered since yesterday lunchtime.
The biggest danger is plummeting temperatures this evening causing the pitch to freeze.
Swindon's stadium and operations manager, Mark Isaacs, speaking this morning, said: "As a precaution the shaded parts of the pitch were covered on Thursday lunchtime.
"We expect some snow this afternoon, with temperatures expected to drop as low as around minus five this evening.
"With the most vulnerable part of the playing surface under cover, at this stage we believe there is a strong chance the game will be played."
