Dean Cox hopes he has done enough to reclaim his Albion starting berth.
The wideman came off the bench to set up Nicky Forster’s simple 75th-minute winner for the Seagulls at home to Wycombe on Saturday.
He also sent Gary Hart away on the stoppage-time one-on-one which could have eased a lot of nerves around Withdean.
Cox was left out for the first time under Russell Slade as loan signing Arron Davies got first crack on the left flank.
But he hopes his impressive run out has earned a place at Carlisle next Saturday.
He said: “There’s competition but it’s not a problem. It’s always healthy.
“Hopefully I’ve put in a decent 20 minutes or so to try and get myself into the team for next Saturday.”
Asked about being left on the bench, Cox said: “I took it on the chin, came on and just did my best.
“The mood’s a lot more vibrant in the changing room now.
“The lads are delighted and let’s take that on to next week.”
