Nicky Forster scored his third goal in as many games to clinch Albion's much-needed first win of the season.

The Seagulls ground out a 1-0 home success over Wycombe in a tense affair at Withdean today.

Forster took the acclaim as he tapped into an unguarded net in the 75th minute after substitute Dean Cox broke the offside trap and rolled the ball across goal.

The goal was rough luck on Wycombe keeper Scott Shearer, who had denied Forster with a brilliant reflex save just seconds earlier.

That flurry of activity was out of character with much of the fare for a crowd of 5,895, including 495 away fans.

The only moment of note in a dull first half saw debutant Arron Davies, lively at times down the left, have a shot beaten away by Shearer after a slick move involving the impressive Gary Dicker and Forster.

Albion lost Andrew Whing at half-time to a suspected dead leg after he blocked a fierce Matt Phillips free-kick but the hosts generally looked secure at the back.

Gary Hart should have secured the win but shot wide deep in added time after clever work from Cox sent him clear.

That miss could have proved costly as Michel Kuipers was penalised for holding the ball too long in the final minute.

Marlon Pack, though, saw his free-kick charged down and Albion also survived the ensuing corner to secure their victory.
