Arron Davies has teamed up with Albion to revive his international career.

The Welshman has dropped out of John Toshack’s plans since failing to command a regular place at Nottingham Forest.

Toshack has told the 25-year-old attacking midfielder he needs regular first team football to be considered for a recall.

Cardiff-born Davies, on loan to Albion for the rest of 2009, made his only senior appearance for Wales three years ago.

“I came on against Trinidad in a friendly in Austria,” he said. “That was under John Toshack and I had a lot of games for the under-21s.

“I was captain and finished with 14 caps. I did well and enjoyed that.

“I am looking to get back into the international scene. That is why I have come here.

“He (Toshack) has told me I need to be playing first team football to get into the international squad and if I come down here and do well that is what I am looking to do. I’ve been working hard at Forest but it’s hard when you are not getting an opportunity. You are standing still.

“First team football is everything and I will be looking to impress enough to get the nod for the Wales squad.”

Davies faces Wycombe Wanderers at Withdean today following his transfer window-beating move on Tuesday, which coincided with the £35,000 sale of Mark Wright to Bristol Rovers.

He has happy memories of Albion’s temporary home with previous club Yeovil.

“I played here once before and scored, so hopefully that’s a good omen,” he said.

“We’ve got to turn it around and start winning our home games. That will breed confidence in the lads.

“There are some good strikers at the club with a good pedigree and scoring record, so it will be good to work with them.

“Hopefully I can set some goals up for them and score some myself.”
