Crawley boss Steve Evans conceded that his side were fortunate to pick up a point after they were held to a 1-1 draw in today's Blue Square premier clash after visitors Grays Athletic levelled five minutes from time.

Substitute Charlie Taylor scored with a free header from six yards and it was no more than the visitors deserved on the balance of play. Evans said: "It's as poor as we've been this season. Grays could have equalised before they did and although we put them through the ringer to get the second goal we were hanging on in the last 15 minutes. Grays deserved a point."

Reds had taken a sixth minute lead when Jefferson Louis volleyed home after Glenn Wilson had knocked down Sam Rents' free kick.

But Danny Charge should have levelled on two occasions before the break with one effort hitting the post although Wilson also rattled the woodwork with a header from Mikey Malcolm's cross.

Reds, already without four players because of injury, also lost Charlie Ademeno and Wilson to injury, struggled to create much in the second half although Louis wasted a good chance from 15 yards and Jamie Cook was denied six yards out by a great tackle from Sam Gaughran.

Grays finished the stronger and Charge missed another great opportunity when he was put through by Jamie Slabber only to fire wide with only Nick Jordan to beat.
