Boss Russell Slade is confident Albion's match at Millwall tomorrow night will be free of the crowd trouble which marred the Londoners' Carling Cup tie at West Ham on Tuesday.
Slade was at Upton Park to spy on Millwall ahead of the Seagulls' League One visit to The Den.
He said: "It was a fairly scary place to be. It must have been difficult also for the players and everybody concerned with both clubs.
"It really was a throwback to the Seventies but hopefully we can move on from that and I am sure there won't be the same trouble at the game on Friday night."
Millwall led at West Ham but eventually lost 3-1 after-extra-time.
Slade warned: "They played very well and came within three or four minutes of despatching West Ham.
"It was a good performance and they deserved their lead, because for long periods they outplayed them."
