LIAM DICKINSON reckons Albion have discovered a supply line to get the goals flowing at the right end.
He just hopes they can start keeping them out of their own net.
After three blanks, the Seagulls have scored three in two games including two Dickinson crackers.
That is great. But it is a shame 11 have gone it at the other end.
Right-sided Elliott Bennett certainly proved he can create chances, despite having had precious little time to settle in since his move from Wolves. Which is why Dickinson is confident the best is yet to come.
He said: “It’s great to have someone on the wing who will get at players. He’s similar to Mark Wright.
“I think Wrighty has not had the greatest of starts with the balls going out to him and the support.
“Today we focused on getting the ball out to Bennett and he looked dangerous when he got on the ball, getting at players and getting early crosses in. That’s a massive benefit for us.
“We came in for training on Friday and had one session. He looked sharp then so I think if we work on it we’re going to get a lot of joy.”
So that is half the story going forward. What about in the middle?
While stressing he is happy to play whatever role is required, Dickinson admits he enjoyed having a sidekick on Saturday rather than working alone. Especially when that sidekick had the sort of know-how Nicky Forster can offer.
“Fozzy is a great player,” he said. “He’s an experienced pro. He makes good runs and talks to you. He’ll tell you a lot.
“In the first 15 or 20 minutes I thought there was a handful of goals there for us. It’s a funny game because it just turns around, like at Huddersfield on Tuesday.
“I thought up there for 15 minutes we dominated and it only took one cross, one opportunity and they get a goal. It’s not good enough at all.”
And, if we are talking strikers, there had to be a mention for Dickinson’s former team mate Carl Baker, who hit a hat-trick.
It was about this time last year that Gary Hooper scored a Withdean treble to set alarm bells ringing that Albion’s season might not be the success story so many people anticipated.
Baker looked almost as good as the Scunthorpe striker did and Dickinson said: “He’s a great player, and a great lad as well.”
