Albion had two defenders sent-off and wasted a penalty as they suffered a depressing 4-2 home defeat to previously winless Stockport today.

Tommy Elphick and Colin Hawkins were dismissed in quick succession and Nicky Forster saw his spot kick brilliantly saved by Owain Fon Williams before the Seagulls were sunk by a superb Carl Baker hat-trick.

It all looked to be going so well when Forster headed in a cross by lively new boy Elliott Bennett on 28 minutes.

Baker replied immediately as he was left unmarked at the far post.

A foul on Liam Dickinson gave Forster his spot kick chance after the break but Williams tipped his well struck low drive on to the post.

Baker punished Albion with a brilliant chip over Graeme Smith and the covering James Tunnicliffe after a mazy dribble.

Dickinson replied with a stunning shot to level on 59 minutes but then the game really turned against the hosts.

Elphick was pulled up for a foul, his second bookable offence, to leave them down to ten men on 61 minutes.

Hawkins was sent on to cover the defensive void but was only on for two minutes.

Smith saved brilliantly from first Baker, then Thompson, only for ref Steve Cook to judge Hakwins had been holding back the latter as he shot.

Hawkins was dismissed and Baker coolly rolled home the spot kick.

Albion still pressed for another leveller and Mark Wright had a volley saved.

Stockport debutant Liam Bridcutt was sent-off for delaying a free-kick, his second bookable offence of the game, to even things up a little.

But Stockport had the final say on 89 minutes as substitute Oli Johnson raced away on a counter attack before rounding Smith to net.
