Albion are in line for a cash windfall after their former skipper Dean Hammond joined Southampton today.
Hammond has switched from League One rivals Colchester on a three-year deal.
The fee is undisclosed though it is bring reported in East Anglia as approaching £400,000.
Albion sold the midfielder for £250,000 in the January transfer window last year and will receive 20% of any profit Colchester have made in moving him on.
The transfer means Hammond links up again with his former Withdean boss Dean Wilkins, who is now assistant manager with the Saints.
Hammond said: "I worked with Dean before at Brighton and I enjoyed it.
"I don't know if he was factor in bringing me here but I'm looking forward to working with him again."
