Albion secured their first point of the season with a battling 0-0 draw at Brentford today.
The Seagulls, backed by 1,650 fans in a crowd of 6,950 at Griffin Park, were good value for their point.
Andrew Crofts had a first half effort ruled out for a foul but there were few chances at either end.
Central defenders Tommy Elphick and Adam Virgo were particularly impressive for the Seagulls, though the latter forced Michel Kuipers into a sharp second-half save with a miscued clearance which was heading for the bottom corner.
Mark Wright had arguably Albion's best effort with a first-half drive which Lewis Price tipped over.
Brentford's main attacking weapon was the long throw of David Hunt but the visitors dealt with it pretty well.
Kuipers made a save from Sam Wood in only the second minute but Albion will be pleased with their defensive efforts.
More of the same will be needed on Tuesday as they face a tough test at Huddersfield.
