Crawley played some great attacking football as they opened their account for the season with a 3-1 win over Forest Green Rovers in the Blue Square premier tonight.
Reds cruised into a 2-0 lead inside 21 minutes. Jamie Cook broke the deadlock in the third minute when he latched onto Simon Rusk's pass before making a yard of space to fire home.
The home side had two goals disallowed before midfielder Eddie Hutchinson rose to head home Sam Rents' deep free kick to make it 2-0.
It looked like being a stroll for the home side but they were stunned eight minutes before half-time when slack marking allowed Jonathan Davies to pull one back with a close-range finish from Paul Stonehouse's cross.
But Reds restored their advantage in the 56th minute when the impressive Ben Smith slipped a pass into the path of Charles Ademeno who netted his first goal for the club from close range.
Smith hit the post and saw two efforts blocked by Forest Green goalkeeper Terry Burton while Lewis Killeen and Jefferson Louis also went close to giving Crawley a more emphatic victory.
