Albion are expecting a record turnout at Withdean against Stockport on Saturday.

The match which will decide the Seagulls’ League One fate was sold out yesterday.

Fans snapped up The Argus 2 for 1 ticket offer for 400 seats in the south stand and just under 1,000 seats in total went within hours.

A record League attendance is assured and the figure could top the current high of 8,729 for the Carling Cup triumph on penalties against Manchester City earlier in the season.

Every available seat has been sold, so the only spaces will be for season ticket holders who do not turn up.

Manager Russell Slade said: “I am not surprised. The supporters have been brilliant since day one and a major factor in getting us into this position where a win will guarantee our survival.

“The fans were superb at Huddersfield on Saturday, again playing their part, and I am certain they will be in full voice again.”

Fans without seats can keep up-to-date with the match via The Argus website.

Slade has confirmed on-loan Stockport midfielder Gary Dicker will be allowed to play against his parent club.

The Argus revealed earlier this month that Slade had a verbal agreement with Stockport chief Jim Gannon to play Dicker, providing nothing was riding on the result for the visitors.

Slade said: “Out of courtesy I spoke with Jim on Sunday to clarify our position and there is no problem.

“Gary is desperate to play for Brighton and see the job through. That is great, as he has been an important part of our recent run of form.”
