Fans of Brighton and Hove Albion are being urged to emulate striker Lloyd Owusu and “raise the roof” in the fight against relegation.

The Argus is urging Seagulls supporters to copy the forward’s goal celebration as the club battles for League One survival.

Owusu's double strike on Saturday at home to Oldham gave the Albion a renewed hope of surviving the drop.

He scored again on Tuesday night in the 2-1 away win at Bristol Rovers.

It is his signature “raise the roof” celebration which we are urging fans to copy in Saturday’s game at Huddersfield.

The 32-year-old started the iconic celebration while playing for Brentford.

He said: “I have been raising the roof for ten years since I first turned pro.

“It has carried on everywhere I’ve been. At Sheffield Wednesday at the Kop End you see all the fans doing it.

“I’ve done it at Reading and hopefully I have got the Brighton faithful doing it now as well.”

Albion are currently two points ahead of Carlisle and Crewe with two games left - Huddersfield and Stockport next Saturday, May 2.

Liz Costa, vice-chairman of the Albion's supporters' club, said she was encouraged by the team's latest wins and said the fans were vital to avoiding relegation.

She said: “The wins are fantastic and have come at the perfect time.

“You have to look at it from a psychological point of view. When you are losing it can be hard to get out of that mindset but now we are winning again.

“The fans are like another player on the pitch and I would urge anyone who wants to show their support to get up to the match on Saturday.

“The more of us there are there, the better it will be for the team.”

The club expects about 2,000 fans to journey up to Huddersfield on Saturday, which could see the Albion avoid the drop if other results go their way.

Some will make their way by coach but most will drive or take the train.
