GOAL hero Lloyd Owusu is raising the roof for Albion in their fight against relegation.

The much-travelled striker lifted his tally to four in as many matches with a double in Saturday's vital 3-1 victory against Oldham at Withdean.

Owusu celebrated by bench-pressing the air, which has now caught on with team-mates and fans alike.

The 32-year-old coined the celebration with Brentford, his first pro club, after scoring from a cross by former Seagull Warren Aspinall.

"I have been raising the roof for ten years since I first turned pro," Owusu revealed.

"I always remember when I scored against Darlington I did it and then I came out the following game and all the fans started doing it.

"It has carried on everywhere I've been. At Sheffield Wednesday at the Kop End you see all the fans doing it.

"I've done it at Reading and hopefully I have got the Brighton faithful doing it now as well."

Owusu has spearheaded Albion's League One survival bid with five goals in ten starts since signing on loan from Cheltenham. He also set up Dean Cox's opener against Oldham.

"I am just enjoying myself," he said. "At Cheltenham I was in and out of the team and I had to leave there for financial reasons.

"Then somebody looks after you and puts an arm around you and gives you a bit of love. I believe any player needs that and then they thrive and play well.

"That is what I am getting here at Brighton. The fans and the management are tremendous and the players are top drawer."

Saturday's crowd of 6,618 was the best since January and the third-highest in the League at Withdean this season.

Manager Russell Slade said: "The crowd were absolutely terrific. They are probably the best supporters I've ever worked for. We are third-bottom and they just never stop."
