Assistant boss Dean White has warned Albion not to be fooled by their favourable run-in.
Remaining opponents Oldham, Bristol Rovers, Huddersfield and Stockport are all in mid-table, with no chance of going up or down.
Colchester are in the same position and they did not put up much of a fight on Monday.
White expects more from Oldham at Withdean today, especially as they are seeking a first win in seven games since Joe Royle’s return as manager.
He said: “They haven’t won under Joe, so I expect them to come and give it a go. We are under no illusions that it will be a difficult game.
“All this stuff about mid-table. We were there and won quite a few games last season and ended up seventh.
“It can work both ways. They might shrug their shoulders and think it’s the end of the season or they could come here relaxed and play.
“Sometimes just by doing that – playing without fear and pressure – you can pop it around and enjoy the day.
“Unfortunately, we are not in a position to do that. We have to get a result, no matter what.”
Royle was involved in another key end-of-season clash on his last but one visit to Withdean.
That was with Ipswich in May 2005, when Albion needed a result to stay in the Championship and Town a victory for a chance of automatic promotion.
Adam Virgo’s equaliser kept the Seagulls up and, as it transpired, Ipswich would not have gone up even if they had won, but Royle is fed up with draws following successive stalemates over Easter against two other strugglers, Carlisle and Crewe.
He said: “I want a win. I think we should have had a minimum of three by now but, for one reason or another, that hasn’t happened.
“I came in hoping to kick-start the season and make the play-offs. We could have been there but we haven’t taken our chances when we’ve been on top, whereas defensively overall we’ve been pretty tight.
“It has only been fine lines. I’ve been unhappy about certain decisions by referees and we’ve been down to ten men on a couple of occasions. We’ve also given away penalties.
“It’s not all doom and gloom and, as I said after the last two matches, the shoots of recovery are there.”
Virgo was sent-off early in the second half when the sides drew 1-1 at Boundary Park in December and Royle anticipates another tight encounter today.
He said: “Brighton had a good result the other day and are battling. Peterborough are 20 points ahead of us and Cheltenham are 20-odd points behind us but, from what I’ve seen, there is not that much difference between them.
“It’s not a spectacular division, you just need a little bit of savvy.”
Player of the season favourite Andrew Whing and Gary Dicker are expected to shrug off knocks, so Albion are likely to be unchanged, with Gary Hart making his first home start since September up front.
Royle has cut short Steve Kabba’s ineffective spell on loan from Watford and winger Chris Taylor could be switched to the centre of the attack if Dean Smalley fails to recover from a thigh injury.
Oldham could make changes in defence and midfield although plans to bring back former Albion loan signing Ian Westlake following concussion were scrapped when he complained of dizziness at training yesterday.
Albion are moving the club shop and ticket office in May, directly across the road from the current location in Queens Road, Brighton.
