David Livermore wants to re-establish himself at Albion, as a central midfielder.

Livermore is on loan at Luton for the rest of the season but the former Oldham utility player still sees his future with the Seagulls.

“As far as I am concerned I will be back ready to train in pre-season, giving it my all to make sure I am in the team for the first game next season,” he said.

“Things haven’t quite worked for me but I have got another year on my contract and I am determined to do well for Brighton.

“ I haven’t played enough games this season, especially in what I consider to be my strongest position in the centre of midfield.

“Since I came back from injury in January I’ve not played there. I have been at leftback in the reserves as well.

“I still feel I should be playing in midfield. That is no disrespect to the other lads at the club but I feel I am good enough to be playing for Brighton.”

Luton have won the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy and been controversially relegated from the Football League since Livermore joined them.

He kept a low profile in their Wembley final triumph over Scunthorpe after he was sent-off in Albion’s semi-final exit on penalties at Luton.

“I went to Wembley to watch but kept myself out of the way, basically out of respect for the lads at Brighton,” Livermore said.

“I didn’t want to be there celebrating when it should have been us really, especially with me getting sent-off in the semi-final at Luton.

“There was a bit of banter flying around when I first came to the club. They said I was Luton’s best player!”
