ADAM Virgo is banking on a trip to another club with a poor home record to keep alive Albion’s slender hopes of League One survival.

Virgo, pictured below, was on loan to Colchester from Celtic last season when they were relegated from the Championship.

Colchester, 13th following Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at Leyton Orient, have struggled in their first season at the Weston Homes Community Stadium after moving there from Layer Road.

They have suffered ten home defeats, only one less than Albion’s wretched record at Withdean.

Virgo said: “I think it’s that new ground syndrome. They haven’t got the best home record and we have got to get three points, it’s as simple as that.

“We don’t fear anyone in their team and I don’t see them as a better team than us. I know the crowd there and if we get a good start they can turn quite quickly.”

Virgo scored his sixth goal of the season against Swindon on Saturday but was part of the defence which then conceded three in quick concession.

He said: “It’s the way the season has gone so far. We had a mad ten minutes and the goals we conceded were criminal.

“It’s not good enough and that is why we are in the position we are in. Goodness knows what happened but there are good strikers in this League and if you give them an opportunity they will take it.”
