ALBION boss Russell Slade has challenged his players to boost their fight for League One survival with back-to-back wins for the first time since November.

The Seagulls beat automatic promotion contenders Leicester and Millwall in the space of five days at Withdean under Micky Adams earlier in the season.

Slade has demanded a repeat at home to relegation rivals Swindon today following Tuesday’s triumph at doomed Hereford.

He has told his players they cannot afford another quick dip in form after thrashing his old club Yeovil 5-0 last month, only to lose 3-0 at Walsall three days later.

Slade said: “There were a few vital words we made sure they adhered to when they went out on Tuesday, like focus and attitude.

“There are so many things that we need to do as a side to prepare ourselves in the best possible manner to win a match.

“Maybe all those things came together on Tuesday to get us a result and they need to do that again, it can’t be a one-off.

“I will be quick to remind them that the time before when we won we then got stuffed at Walsall.

“It’s all about consistency, not just the one game but two or three games. Can they go and put that together now?

“I will be challenging them to do that and challenging them to make sure they stay in the side and fight for a contract if they are out of contract in the summer.

“There are a lot of reasons for wanting to be successful and it doesn’t matter what reason it is as long as they are in there fighting and trying to get a result for the club.”

More than 2,000 Albion fans travelled to last Saturday’s defeat at MK Dons and nearly 300 still made the midweek trek to Hereford.

“They are doing their bit,” said Slade. “In the last two away games they have been tremendous.

“It was a longer journey on Tuesday night and, okay they were smaller in number, but they were still as enthusiastic as ever.

“They are right behind us and it’s not down to the fans, it’s down to us.

“It’s down to the players to lift the fans, to get them going, to get them on our side and rooting for us. We need to cause Swindon enough problems to do that.”
