Lloyd Owusu has admitted he is playing for his future at Albion.
The on-loan Cheltenham striker spearheads the attack in tomorrow’s crucial home game against Swindon after scoring his second goal in eight matches in Tuesday’s win at Hereford.
Owusu, 32, said: “I have taken the brunt of it at Cheltenham. If I had played six more games I would have been automatically entitled to another year.
“As the leading goalscorer there, I am sure I would have played six more games before the end of the season.
“For me now I have got nothing at the end of the season, so I have got to try to put myself in the shop window, try to score goals for Brighton.
“If Brighton like me then that will be good and, if not, hopefully there might be someone else out there.”
Owusu, on target for Cheltenham against Danny Wilson’s Hartlepool earlier in the season, has branded the clash against Wilson’s Swindon as “massive”.
He said: “Brighton don’t want to be playing in League Two, they want to be pushing up to the Championship with a new stadium being built and the fan base here, which is unbelievable.
“I dedicate Tuesday’s performance to the fans, especially to travel that far away and get behind us. It was brilliant.”
Meanwhile, Chris Birchall remains an Albion player and available for selection as far as the Seagulls are concerned, despite reports he has been offered a deal by LA Galaxy.
They have not been contacted by David Beckham’s American club about Birchall, who made his first start under manager Russell Slade at Hereford.
