Glenn Murray has insisted that Albion’s medical department deserves credit for the success of Danny Welbeck.
The striker is enjoying his best season to date on the South Coast, with six goals already in the Premier League.
This tally has already matched his best figures from any of his previous seasons with Albion.
Murray, who knows a thing or two about scoring for Albion, has claimed that the club’s medical department are hugely responsible for Welbeck’s importance.
He told The Argus: “Danny Welbeck, I think the biggest credit I can give to the football club is the medical department in keeping Danny fit.
“No other club in his career seems to have been able to do that. So for us to take a different approach and keep Danny fit and firing week in, week out.
“The quality has always been there with Danny. His ability has never been in question.
“We've just seen it on a more consistent basis now. I think also he's really comfortable in the Premier League. He's been there so long. He knows all the old tricks.
“He knows not to get too flustered when opportunities come. He's very comfortable in his environment.
“I think if you can get him in front of goal, if you can get him involved in games, then he's always going to affect them in a positive manner. Thankfully for us, he is at the moment.”
Welbeck is just one goal shy of matching Pascal Gross’ record of 30 Premier League goals for Albion.
Murray also told The Argus who his standout performers for Albion have been this season.
He has pointed out the influence of the likes of Joao Pedro and Jan Paul van Hecke but insisted that Carlos Baleba has the potential to be “world class”.
He said: “As far as standout performances, this could be a long call.
“Obviously, the easy one is Joao Pedro. He came last year, scored a lot of penalties, scored a lot of goals. I feel as though his game has improved even more this year.
“I feel as though he's becoming more of that focal point, that one that Brighton look towards to score goals.
“And Joao will only continue to keep getting better and better, I have no doubt about that.
“I've been super impressed by Georginio Rutter.
“I think when he signed, a lot of eyebrows were raised. His stats weren't amazing, at least in the Championship.
“It's like, why are you spending £40million on this guy with these stats? But that's not peeling back.
“Luckily he deserves what he is and what he actually can do.
“I think he's got a brilliant relationship with Joao Pedro. He affects games as well. He's combative and tenacious, which a lot of strikers aren't necessarily.
“I think he brings that to the front package. When you sync that in with the likes of [Kaoru] Mitoma, Welbeck and Joao Pedro, it's just a really nice amalgamation.
“But for me there's three, I feel as though Bart Verbruggen is a tender age as a goalkeeper. He acts with much more maturity than what he probably should have or most his age have.
“Jan Paul van Hecke, I think his progression has been incredible. He keeps going on that upward curve.
“But the one for me that has stood out head and shoulders above everyone is Carlos Baleba.
“I think he's an absolutely outstanding midfielder.
“I would probably go as far as saying, well maybe not quite yet, but he will be world class definitely.
“I think just like his physical specimen, his understanding of the game, his ease in fronting people up and going past them.
“Even when he gets in and around the box, he's not frightened to have a shot. More often than not, he hits the target with it.
“I think he's absolutely exceptional.
“Fabian's got a lot out of the players, I think there's so, so much more to come from every single one of them.
“There's so much potential. The squad is absolutely packed.”
