Fabian Hurzeler has spelt out the challenges facing Valentin Barco on loan.
But he is convinced the left-back will benefit from his stint at Sevilla.
Barco has denied suggestions in Spain that his agreement could be cut short in January as he struggles for significant game time.
Stopped by the city newspaper Diario de Sevilla as he left training on Thursday, he said he was “calm” about his situation and added “there’s nothing” in terms of ending the loan.
Meanwhile, Hurzeler is keeping a close eye on what is now a long list of loan players.
He is delighted to see successes so far such as that of Facundo Buonanotte at Leicester.
But he also has high hopes for Barco and appreciates the challenge he has taken on in LaLiga.
Currently loanees including Barco, Buonanotte, Jeremy Sarmiento, Malick Yalcouye, Amario Cozier-Duberry and Odel Offiah all played and trained under Hurzeler and his staff in pre-season, including the two games in Japan.
Hurzeler told The Argus: “I follow all of them because I experienced them here as a coach and I experienced young players who want to improve, who have the right mindset and who have big, big potential.
“I like the idea of giving them a loan and to see how they develop.
“Not every loan can be a success but every loan gives you an experience to grow and also a thing where you might have to improve and feedback where you might have to improve.
“Then we have to see how it continues with the next loan and the next loan.
“Or they do so good on loan that they are ready to play for us.
“When we look at Barco, it is not an easy situation.
“It is also a different league so to adapt there is for sure not that easy.
“But Barco has great potential and I am sure he will go his way.”
National sports newspaper and website Marca believe Barco is seen at Sevilla as a talented player with a long-term potential – but that the longer-term is of less interest when he will only be with the club this season.
Loan deals can be cut short or transferred in January, as has happened with James Beadle and Sarmiento last season.
Equally, talk of such things happening can be an easy headline-grabber at this time of year leading up to the mid-season window.
In general, players and clubs tend to sign season-long loan deals because they want the loan to last for the season.
Yasin Ayari has spoken about the benefits of a loan stint which, from the outside, does not appear to have been a roaring success.
He has highlighted growing during his up-and-down campaign at Blackburn Rovers, where he did not enjoy as much game time as he would have liked.
Sevilla, currently 12th in the table, are not in league action until Monday, when they host Osasuna.
Barco quickly attracted attention for his attacking flair but what has been seen as defensively vulnerable.
Adria Pedroa has regained and retained his starting spot at left-back.
But Barco went on late in the most recent fixture, a 1-0 win over Rayo Vallecano.
He has so far played in seven league games, of which three were starts.
Buonanotte has made a big impact at Leicester.
He returns from suspension at Brentford this weekend.
Hurzler said: “Buonanotte for me is doing an incredible job at Leicester.
“I really enjoy seeing his development.
“I really enjoy seeing how he adapts in the Premier League, how his impact is in a different team.
“It is also not that easy to come from a different team in the Premier League and to immediate play and play good in this way.
“That shows his potential and his skill and I really follow him.
“I don’t only follow these two.
“I also follow Andy Moran, who is doing a great job, like all the other young players.
“I can count now a long list because we have now a lot of players who are on loan “That is the way we want to do it.
“Hopefully it might help us maybe in winter or summer to develop our team.”
