Adam Lallana went off injured with Southampton five days from their trip to the Amex.

The former Albion midfielder did not make it to half-time as Saints lost 3-2 at home to Liverpool.

Paul Onuachu also went off as Saints, who led 2-1 in the second half, were left empty-handed.

Early indications are that striker Onuachu has more chance of facing the Seagulls.

Southampton boss Russell Martin said: "He was really good so I hope his injury is nothing too serious.

“It's just a bit of fatigue but I thought he played really, really well."

"I think Adam's will be a bit worse than Paul's. So we'll have to assess that. He's a bit worried about it."

Southampton offered some warning that they will offer a test on Friday night.

The leaders were rocked by a determined and at times ferocious display from Saints, who briefly led after goals from Adam Armstrong and Mateus Fernandes cancelled out Dominik Szoboszlai’s first-half strike.

But there were intermittent defensive frailties throughout and two goals by Mo Salah, the second of them a penalty, secured the points.

Martin was unhappy with the nature of the goals conceded but pleased with much of the performance.

He said: "When you look at our games, the guys feel they are so close - but we have to eradicate those moments to give ourselves any chance."

Meanwhile Steve Cooper will not be in charge of Leicester when Albion visit in two weeks’ time.

He was sacked by the Foxes today, a day after his side lost 2-1 at home to Chelsea.

Cooper’s assistant manager Alan Tate and first-team coach and analyst Steve Rands have also left the club.

First-team coach Ben Dawson has stayed and will oversee training until a new manager is appointed, with Leicester keen to get someone in as soon as possible.
