Albion secured a nervy 2-1 win against Bournemouth at Vitality Stadium.

Joao Pedro scored an early goal before Kaoru Mitoma doubled the lead shortly after the break.

However, Brighton faced late pressure after Carlos Baleba was sent off before the hour mark.

David Brooks narrowed the gap in added time, and Antoine Semenyo hit the crossbar in the dying seconds, but Brighton managed to hold on for the win.

This victory marks Fabian Hurzeler’s fourth win in six Premier League matches, maintaining his impressive start in the league.

The match, unfortunately scheduled during Storm Bert, saw both teams battling not only each other but also strong winds and heavy rain.

Brighton made a quick start, as instructed by Hurzeler following their comeback win against Manchester City two weeks ago.

A series of quick passes resulted in Danny Welbeck setting up Georginio Rutter, whose shot was saved by Kepa Arrizabalaga, only for Pedro to score from the rebound.

This early goal shook Bournemouth, but as both teams adjusted to the wet conditions, the hosts began to mount a response.

Justin Kluivert was the first to test Brighton goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen with a volley, followed by a well-saved shot from Evanilson.

Kluivert went close again with a side-footed effort wide after good work from Milos Kerkez and Semenyo.

Semenyo’s next action was a late tackle on Rutter, earning him a fifth yellow card of the season and an upcoming one-match ban.

He later assisted in having the ball in the net, but his delayed pass meant Kluivert was offside, nullifying Evanilson’s subsequent finish.

The score remained 1-0 at halftime, but Brighton quickly extended their lead in the 49th minute.

Pedro set up Mitoma, who curled a shot into the bottom corner following more slick passing around the Bournemouth penalty area.

The sending-off of Baleba for a second yellow card after a late tackle on Kerkez made Brighton's task tougher.

Semenyo immediately signalled Bournemouth’s intentions with a low effort, which was saved, followed by Verbruggen saving Evanilson’s header.

Brooks’s goal appeared to be a mere consolation, but Bournemouth came close to an equaliser as Semenyo’s volley hit the crossbar in the eighth minute of stoppage time.

Brighton, however, held on to secure the win, moving them up to fifth place in the league.

The match saw Brighton capitalising on early opportunities and demonstrating resilience in the face of late pressure from Bournemouth.

Despite the challenging weather conditions and playing a significant portion of the second half with 10 men, Brighton showed determination to maintain their lead and secure the three points.

This win further cements Hurzeler’s positive impact on the team’s performance as they continue to climb the Premier League table.

For Bournemouth, the result was a hard-fought defeat, as they were unable to capitalise on their late momentum to secure a point.
