Albion Women are gearing up for a crucial League Cup clash against Leicester City this Sunday.

Head coach Dario Vidosic has highlighted the team's determination to progress and build on their strong start in the competition.

Speaking ahead of the match, Vidosic said: “We want to go to the top of the table. We want to try and secure that progression into the next phase and have our name in the draw. This isn’t a week now to let off the pedal.”

The Seagulls head into the fixture buoyed by their unbeaten home record this season, with Vidosic stressing the importance of maintaining that momentum.

He said: “We’ve had a great record at home. We don’t want to lose anywhere, but especially at home."

Reflecting on the team’s approach to the competition, Vidosic underscored the desire to aim high in every tournament.

“The aim is always to win. We won’t talk too far ahead, but it would be nice to bring that first sort of silverware to the club and have a trophy.”

The squad has faced challenges with injuries and player availability, but Vidosic praised the players’ resilience and commitment to adapt.

He explained: “We do need everyone. Like on the weekend, we were down to one centre-back and had no real defensive cover on the bench.

“So we’re trying to maybe adapt a couple of players, give them a bit of learning in different positions.”

Brighton’s recent league victory over Leicester may offer some insight into their opponents, but Vidosic expects a different challenge this time.

He told reporters: “I think they’ll need to change something just because of how dominant we were last time. Although the scoreline probably doesn’t reflect that with the 1-0.

“We’re not too sure what to expect, so we’ll prepare for a couple of different scenarios.”

With two games remaining in the League Cup group stage, a win on Sunday would put Brighton firmly in control of their group and take them closer to the knockout stages. “We’ll take it game by game,” Vidosic said. “We always go out to try to win, and it would be fantastic to bring a trophy to this club.”

Kickoff is set for 2pm at the Broadfield Stadium.
