Julio Enciso praised his national team coach after enjoying a high point with Paraguay.

The Albion forward produced a fine finish in injury time as his national team drew at altitude in Bolivia.

He went on as sub and helped secure a 2-2 draw in El Alto, which is 4,000 metres above sea level and offers vising teams a hostile environment.

It was his first goal in a World Cup qualifying fixture.

Enciso went on at half-time having been held back by Gustavo Alfaro, the experienced Argentinian coach who is now in charge of Paraguay and has been handling him carefully.

Alfaro recently assured ‘La Joya’ he could not do without him but also offered him a gentle reminder to be careful what he says in the media.

After his goal in Bolivia, Enciso said: "We showed what we are made of and what we came for.

“The coach is a genius, the effort made by my team-mates is inexplicable, we are leaving very happy.

"We got a great point, it will really help us a lot in the standings.”

Enciso's first contribution was an ambitious shot which sailed wildly off target as Miguel Almiron called for a pass.

But he played a simple pass to Almiron for the first Paraguay goal and had a huge role as his side twice came from behind.

Diego Gomez, who had been substituted, was red-carded after an incident on the sidelines.

Enciso now heads back to England as Albion prepare to visit Bournemouth, the scene of his first Premier League goal two seasons ago.

Pervis Estupinan played 90 minutes as Ecuador secured a 1-0 win in Colombia despite playing for an hour with ten.

The Albion left-back came in for some criticism for his part in the incident which led to team-mate Piero Hincapie being sent-off.

Estupinan has played a full part in a run of five successive clean sheets for Ecuador, who remain firmly on course for a second successive trip to the World Cup finals.
