Joel Veltman said he had goosebumps after learning his Albion history.
The popular defender was among the audience at the Amex for one of the screenings of Stand or Fall: The Remarkable Rise of Brighton & Hove Albion.
Matt Lorenzo’s documentary charts the club progress from their struggles of the 1990s, through Gillingham and Withdean to the first season in Europe.
Veltman enjoyed seeing his part in the later stages of that but was really intrigued by the path from the “War Years” and near-extinction and the step-by-step progress ever since.
He said: “I was more curious about the history and I think they did a great job to put that in the documentary. I really enjoyed seeing that.
“Even when I came in 2020 it was getting better and better and better, like the video before the game! It gets better and better and better.
“Hopefully episode number two is coming!”
Asked for three words to sum up the documentary, Veltman said: “Historical I would say, like mentioned in the documentary ‘fairy-tale’ and – very good question - just goosebumps, I would say.”
Stand Or Fall is described as “an emotional and inspiring film and includes a host of interviews with fans who helped save the club when its survival was in doubt through to iconic figures in our history like Stuart Storer, scorer of the last goal at the Goldstone Ground, and chairman Tony Bloom.”
It combines exclusive interviews, archive footage amid some stunning camerawork which shows off the club and city to its best.
