Three Albion players – and a future club-mate – are celebrating impressive wins in South America.
Julio Enciso started for Paraguay as they beat Argentina 2-1 in the CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying campaign.
Pervis Estupinan shone at left-back and Jeremy Sarmiento played his part as a sub in Ecuador’s 4-0 win over Bolivia.
And there was another impressive night for Diego Gomez, the Inter Miami midfielder who will join the Seagulls in January.
Gomez was one of the key Paraguay performers in their win over the world champions, especially in the second half.
And he was in tears of joy as he spoke straight after the match.
He said: “This is something I always dreamed of, I'm very happy for this moment I've lived with the national team.”
Enciso had spoken about his concern that he would drop of out the plans of head coach Gustavo Alfaro due to his lack of playing time in the Premier League.
But he started the match in attack and played the first 82 minutes as his team gave themselves a four-point cushion in the final automatic qualifying position with seven rounds of games still to play.
Argentina continue to lead the table. Facundo Buonanotte, the Albion midfielder currently impressing on loan at Leicester City, is with the squad but was not involved in this fixture.
Enciso and Paraguay now travel to El Alto to play Bolivia more than 4,000 metres above sea level.
That match ends at around 10pm on Tuesday our time.
Estupinan told The Argus before his trip to South America that the goals would flow again for an Ecuador side who had drawn their previous two games 0-0.
He has now played in four consecutive clean sheets for his country and looks set to represent them at a second World Cup, having appeared in Qatar in 2022.
Ecuador now head to Baranquilla, where their game with Colombia will finish at about 1am on Wednesday our time.
