David Coote was booed off by Liverpool fans when they beat Albion.
But our picture shows the away team also thought they had cause for complaint on occasion.
All part of the normal cut-and-thrust of a highly competitive Premier League fixture.
The Nottinghamshire-based official is in hot water after a video which appears to show him speaking about Jurgen Klopp emerged on social media.
He has been suspended by the PGMOL pending an investigation.
Liverpool fans have come up with a catalogue of incidents in which they felt their team were harshly treated by Coote.
Albion supporters might recall he took charge of the Anfield clash at Easter when, as happened again recently, Liverpool came from behind to win 2-1.
Our live report at theargus.co.uk told readers: “Boos cascade down from the home stands - for referee Coote.
“I think they think there is some sort of injustice going on here.”
Home fans were infuriated early on back in that Easter clash when a penalty claim was waved away, soon after Danny Welbeck’s opening goal beneath the Kop.
There were complaints when Conor Bradley was booked for a foul after a slight hesitation by the referee.
Then Pascal Gross was not booked immediately for a midfield foul, even though Coote eventually produced yellow to the disappointment of the Albion man.
We reported: “Coote takes time over his decisions, which is probably a good thing but seems to confuse some fans.”
We later added: “Even home fans can't complain about that yellow as Gomez then wipes out Lamptey.”
Welbeck was booked over confusion as to whether Carlos Baleba would be allowed treatment.
