Roberto De Zerbi says he is ready to give up his contract and walk away if he is the problem at faltering Marseille.

The former Albion boss suffered his latest disappointment at home as OM lost 3-1 to Auxerre on Friday night.

They have won just one of their five home league games and are losing touch with leaders Paris St Germain.

Five wins from six on the road, including five-goal performances at Brest and bottom team Montpellier plus an epic success with ten men at Lyon, have kept them in the leading places.

But De Zerbi, who is still giving press conferences in Italian via an interpreter, said the prospect of home games at Stade Velodrome was a key attraction for him as he headed to France after leaving Albion at the end of last season.

His team have struggled before their own fans.

De Zerbi said: “I take responsibility not only for this defeat but also for the team's performances at home.

“I am not managing to transfer the good performances away or to make the team play with the right values, the right intensity at home.

“We have difficulties at home, that is clear and simple. I do not know if it is a lack of courage or personality. I try to find solutions.

“I came here to play at the Velodrome, to give my all because I wanted to live this strong experience. I spoke about it with (technical director) Medhi Benatia and (club president) Pablo Longoria.

“I come from the street, I tell it like it is.

“If the problem is me, I'm ready to leave, I'm giving up my contract.

“I'm leaving without money, I don't care, it's not my problem. I don't want to talk nonsense.

“I'm here to tell the truth, that's all I know how to do.”

De Zerbi was given licence to rebuild his squad on arrival in Provence and his team bears very little similarity to that which faced Albion in the Europa League last season.
