Albion have named vastly-experienced Daniel Niedzkowski as assistant head coach to Fabian Huerzeler.
The 47-year-old will join the Seagulls’ set-up in a wide-ranging role from January, subject to a successful work permit application.
He has most recently worked as head of the German football federation’s coaches training programme, where Huerzeler was one of his students.
Huerzeler said: “I am delighted to welcome Daniel to the club. He will be an excellent addition to our coaching team and will supplement the skill sets of our existing coaching staff.
“He is somebody I know very well from Germany, and have been keen to bring him to the club, alongside my other backroom staff. He will start with us in January and I look forward to welcoming him to the club.”
Niedzkowski worked with Germany’s under-20 team before spending three years as assistant coach with Bayer Leverkusen.
He had 73 matches in charge of Germany’s under-21s, including the Tokyo Olympics.
Since 2018 he has been in charge of coach education with the DFB.
Albion technical director David Weir said he will not only be working with the first team and added: “He will also support the wider development of coach education and formulate a programme which will ensure the highest possible level of coaching from the academy upwards, across both our men’s and women’s teams.
“We are grateful to the DFB for their understanding and co-operation and wish Daniel every success with us.”
