Fabian Huerzeler has told Albion not to be “blinded” by Manchester City’s bad night in Lisbon.

The Premier League champions head to the Amex tomorrow (5.30pm) looking to bounce back from three successive defeats across the competitions.

But Albion have their own incentive to respond to a bitterly disappointing 2-1 defeat at Liverpool, where they led at half-time.

Huerzeler watched City crash 4-1 at Sporting in the Champions League, having scored early on, and said: “They should have been leading after the first half 3-1 or 4-1.

“They didn’t score the goals but they had big chances.

“Then I think the momentum was shortly after half-time with Sporting Lisbon and they used it in a very efficient way.

“We should not be blinded by this game because they played a good game, especially in the first half, and they got punished for every mistake they made.

“Of course, we are now talking about the bad period they have but in the end it is just one game on Saturday and it can change completely.

“We try to use also our momentum, we try to win this game at home and we should not worry about their bad phase.

“We shouldn’t mention it too much because, in the end, in one game everything can happen.

“We have to focus on our strengths, on our process and our opportunity to win this game.”

City’s 2-1 setback at Bournemouth last Saturday was their first defeat in 33 league games.

Huerzeler said: “Of course, we have a lot of respect.

“City is, for me, still the best team in the world. They have the best manager in the world.

“But we play at home and we want to continue our process and we see this as a next opportunity to challenge the establishment.”
