Pep Guardiola says he is ready to fight his way out of a Manchester City wobble as they prepare to visit the Amex.

City lost 4-1 to Sporting in Lisbon in the Champions League, having gone ahead early on through Phil Foden.

Albion fans will now wonder whether they face a dangerously wounded City side – or a team in disarray.

Former Seagulls striker Viktor Gyokeres scored a hat-trick for the Portuguese champions, including two penalties.

City visit the Amex on Saturday and continue to have injury problems.

Guardiola said: “All season we have had problems from day one but it is what it is.

“Now is the difficult moment in terms of results but I’m here.

“I want to be here and I want to fight and not give up and work harder.

“I like this challenge that as a manager I have ahead of me and who wants to follow me, they will be there.”

Former City defender Joleon Lescott told TNT Sports viewers: “It’s not a great time but I’m sure if they went to Brighton at the weekend and won 3-0 or 4-0, no one is going to be that surprised.”
