Dario Vidosic has revealed how he keeps in contact with Fabian Huerzeler – after the Albion men’s head coach went to a WSL match.
Huerzeler was in the stand at Crawley to see the Seagulls’ senior women beat Leicester City 1-0 on Sunday afternoon.
He took in the game despite a trip back from Merseyside the previous evening after his own team lost 2-1 to Liverpool.
Vidosic also likes to watch as many games as possible, including Premier League action at the Amex when possible.
The two young coaches have both won manager of the month awards since arriving this summer and are off to good starts at the club.
Vidosic, 37, said his working relationship with Huerzeler was more one of mutual encouragement than exchanging notes.
IS THE PREMIER LEAGUE TOUGHER THIS SEASON?
He added: “I think everyone sees the coach but he is an unreal guy.
“I asked early on when I had a day off whether he would mind if I came to watch.
“When I came, he said to me ‘Don’t ask, come whenever you want’.
“He texted me before the game to wish me all the best and we sort of have that contact.
“We train at similar times but he will always stop and have a chat.
“He will come across to our building to have a chat.
“He is a fantastic coach, a great human, and I think it is always awesome to have that support.
“Hopefully we entertained him and he comes back again!”
Albion’s women train at the Lancing complex, in their own impressive purpose-build facility.
Vidosic has been impressed by the one-club feel.
Members of the WSL squad watched the men at the Amex when possible and were present at the Carabao Cup tie with Liverpool.
Vidosic said: “Everyone is each other’s fan, in a way. We are all asking and following results and trying to go to each other’s games.
“At the men’s game I saw a lot of the academy boys, academy girls, a lot of the first team girls were there.
“It is a family club and that makes it really easy to settle in very quickly when you feel that support and it’s not just from my staff but from the club in general.”
Albion are preparing to face Arsenal at the Emirates on Friday having gone third in the WSL – with a four-point advantage over the Gunners.
