Albion are keeping a close eye on Carlos Baleba after he missed their Anfield defeat.
The Cameroon midfielder did not feature, with Jack Hinshelwood doing a good job in the deep-lying role.
Baleba was named on the bench but did not appear as five in-game changes were made with the visitors 2-1 down.
Albion head coach Fabian Huerzeler said: “Carlos has an issue with his knee.
“He would be a starter but it was the right decision, we won’t take any risks.
“He is a very young player, he played a lot of games.
“We have to take care of the health of the players, especially at this age.
“They are playing for their country, they are pushing in every game so I think it is also our responsibility as a club to protect the players in the right moment.”
Yasin Ayari was being assessed after taking a heavy knock at Liverpool while Lewis Dunk and Joao Pedro remained absent from the matchday 20.
