Fabian Huerzeler repeated Albion’s ambition to get results from the toughest of games after they went down at Anfield.
Two quickfire goals going into the final 20 minutes sent the Seagulls to a 2-1 defeat by Liverpool.
Ferdi Kadioglu had fired the visitors into a half-time lead which they could have increased.
Huerzeler was asked whether he was proud of his side’s performance but struggled to see it quite like that.
He said: “In the end football is always a game of results and we need results also for the process.
AS IT HAPPENED: BRIGHTON LOSE 2-1 AT LIVERPOOL
“We have to understand how to get results.
“The performance was good enough to win this game, especially in the first half.
“There were a lot of moments where we should score the second and maybe even the third goal and I think the game would be completely different.
“But in the second half there were two or three moments where we weren’t precise enough, where we lost the 50-50 duels and were maybe attracted by the atmosphere.
“These things are so important to experience and to learn, to get the results that you deserve in the end.
“That is why for me it is always a balance between performance, good, but we are a club with ambitions.
“We need to get results out of these games.”
