Albion’s staggering late cave-in to draw 2-2 with Wolverhampton was not all about one errant pass.

But that played a huge part - and it WAS an awful moment for Mats Wieffer.

Here is how the home team performed as individuals in a display which was patient and largely dominant in the first half but became nervy when put under more stern examination.

It should also be noted they had a late reshuffle with skipper Lewis Dunk ruled out minutes before kick-off.

Bart Verbruggen 7/10

Made a couple of decent saves in the second half and it’s hard to see what more he could have done on the goals that went past him. Confident with the ball at feet.

Joel Veltman 6/10

Less convincing than usual as he was caused problems by Cunha, including on an early chance which Doyle might have buried.

Van Hecke 7/10

Looked to stride forward or thread passes in a bid to pierce an organised defence as he was thrown into a little-seen pairing with Igor. Delivered a very good cross which Welbeck headed over but beaten in the air as Larsen almost scored.

Igor 7/10

A late call-up and his poise on the ball was in evidence at times. His decision to keep backing off as Cunha bore down on him ahead of the equaliser will be scrutinised but he was left exposed.

Pervis Estupinan 6/10

Occasional glimpses of his partnership with Mitoma, including a slick one-two, but not a vintage display and seemed to be caught out of position on the equaliser.

Carlos Baleba 7.5/10

Outstanding for much of the game and tested Sa with a fierce shot from long range. But had become less secure in possession in the period before he was taken off.

Yasin Ayari 7/10

One of the pluses of the afternoon in midfield. Finds spaces and is very good on the ball. Ironically, his diligent pressing should have led to a third Albion goal, not (indirectly) the second for Wolves.

Ferdi Kadioglu 6/10

Played more as a wide midfielder than a raiding  winger. Some tidy work at times and did what was required on the first goal without really sparkling.

Georginio Rutter 7/10

Another beautifully executed assist for Welbeck and looked like the man who might unlock Wolves in the first hour.

Kaoru Mitoma 6/10

Created moments of real danger in the first half, faded in the second. Came infield to go very close with a deflected shot. But again, do we judge him by higher standards than some other players?

Danny Welbeck 8/10

So much for injury concerns. He certainly looked fit enough when soaring for a header which dipped narrowly over. His most prolific start to a season continued with classic movement and deadly finish across the keeper. Bueno did well to deny him a second.

SUBS

Evan Ferguson N/A

His unerring finish was the biggest plus of the day - and it should have been the big story of the match for Albion.

Brajan Gruda N/A

It feels like we haven’t really seen what he can do but he is obviously prepared to graft, which is a good start.

Mats Wieffer N/A

His introduction made sense but will be remembered for that four-on-one horror moment. He was right to go for a third goal rather than the corner flag but got the execution and choice of pass wrong. For balance, it should also be recorded that he won the ball back ahead of Ferguson's goal.

Tariq Lamptey N/A

The burst forward for the second goal brought back memories.

Julio Enciso N/A

Went on for the final chaotic minutes.
