Albion would take a repeat of history at the Amex – on the anniversary of the Premier League’s ‘oldest’ goal.

It is six years ago this weekend that Bruno set up Glenn Murray for the winner over Wolves at the Amex.

It was their third successive win – the second having come by a 1-0 scoreline at Newcastle.

Seagulls boss Chris Hughton said after the 1-0 success over Wanderers: "That was our most resilient performance since last week!

“We would prefer not to make a habit of having to defend really well against a good Wolves team, but it is a trait that brings the best out of a team. We can play better though.”

Murray’s goal was his 100th for the club and he became the top-scoring Englishman in the Premier League at that stage of the season with six, ahead of Harry Kane (5), Raheem Sterling (4) and Callum Wilson (4).

He produced a sharp finish in front of the North Stand after Bruno drilled the ball across goal.

Between them, the total age of scorer and provider was 73 years and 57 days, with Murray 35 at the time and Bruno 38.

They combined to beat the record of 72 years and 168 days set by scorer Paul Scholes, 35, and provider Ryan Giggs, 36, playing for Manchester United against Newcastle eight years previously.

The previous ‘oldest’ goal was set up by Portsmouth's Tim Sherwood for Teddy Sheringham against Charlton Athletic.
