Albion have signed some star performers and renowned international players over the summer, including Nikita Parris, who faces her old club today.

They have some big-stage performers for their big game, as Manchester United visit the Amex before a crowd heading towards five figures.

Fran Kirby, for example, should enjoy the chance to grace a venue she got to know with the Lionesses in the Euros.

But another established international will savour the surroundings if all goes to plan.

Vicky Losada featured in all the publicity for the most recent Amex fixture, against Everton towards the end of last season.

But a yellow card in the previous match ruled her out through suspension.

Albion lost that game 2-1 but have opened their home campaign with two wins at Crawley this time.

From a pivotal midfield role, Losada appears to be enjoying the company around her.

Asked about the part the former Barcelona player has on and off the pitch, head coach Dario Vidosic said: “we have established a leadership group but she is more in charge of that being the captain.

“She is the one the players elected to be their captain.

“She plays an important part to look after the girls, especially in their inner sanctum, where I don’t want to go.

“That is the players’ space. I hound them enough as it is, in the meeting room and the pitch!

“She plays a very important part and I think we have got a very special group here.

“You can see that they all look after each other, they care for each other.

“They will be quick to come to me if someone needs an uplift.

“They are excellent in terms of that and Vicky plays a really big part in that.”

Vidosic was quite happy to point out Albion can go top of the table with a win today.

That is obviously pending Sunday results for Chelsea, who have yet to drop a point, and Manchester City.

United also have a 100% record and have yet to concede a goal, both records Albion will look to end today.

Vidosic said: “They have done exceptionally well “It is not easy to keep clean sheets in this league with the quality of teams and the quality of attackers.

“But they have given opportunities up. Tottenham had a couple.

“They had a really, really good one at 0-0 that maybe another opponent, or another day could have been in the back of the net.

“Their goalkeeper is also very good and in top form.

“They are very solid defensively so it is a great test for us.

“They are a very good side, well coached.

“We are looking forward to it. It’s another challenge, another historic club, but we will go out there to win.”

There was no mistaking the positive message Vidosic was putting out as he spoke at a Thursday morning press conference which was better attended than usual.

An, after four wins from five games and with a big game to look ahead to, why not?

He has enjoyed his trips to the Amex for training and to watch the men.

Now the stage is all set for wSL action.

He said: “I am excited. The good times, the players deserve all of that.

“They are the ones who put in the hard work.

“They are the ones who have to be brave in front of their goal or play 70 metres from goal.

“All the accolades and all that success should be down to the players.

“I am still trying to develop them to improve and just making it enjoyable for them.

“Most importantly, it needs to be enjoyable.

“It is a sport we love. From childhood they all had dreams, when they were playing in the garden with their parents or on their own and kicking the ball.

“They dreamt of playing in big stadiums, like it will be at the weekend.

“This is now their childhood coming back and those memories so it’s a nice week.”
