Yankuba Minteh showed his match-winning talents on the international stage – as he prepares to face his old club.

The Albion winger set up the only goal for Gambia in an AFCON qualifier against Madagascar.

He now returns to England to prepare for the Seagulls’ visit to Newcastle United, the club who reluctantly sold him in the summer to meet profit and sustainability targets.

Minteh beat his defender close to the byline and crossed to set up an open goal for Musa Barrow as Gambia won 1-0.

Meanwhile Carlos Baleba remained unused on the bench as Cameroon clinched their place at the AFCON finals, also winning 1-0.

He had been expected to feature at some point against Kenya in Kampala, Uganda.

Instead, he remained on the bench throughout.

AFCON takes place in Morocco in December and January of next season.

Attention now turns to South America, where Pervis Estupinan and Julio Enciso are involved in world Cup qualifiers.

Estupinan and Ecuador face Uruguay in Montevideo while Enciso and Paraguay are at home to Venezuela.

Both games will finish well into the early hours of Wednesday morning, UK time.
